Been putting up my exhibition, seeing how it goes, It isn't quite done and I need to finish it off tomorrow, which isn't going to be easy with my arm in a sling, but here it is with the posters, the black lines and the bottles all up and ready to goo!

Finished Bottles.
Quick post to show the finished (Or almost finished bottles ready to go up).
Super speed, this is super speed, Just thinking.. It's plain.. Where is he... well actually he is too fast to stay on his bottle, he's ran off and gone all over the exhibition! This idea didn't come from any kind of research, no kind of anything, it was a spur of the moment thing I really like the idea because it breaks up the rest of the exhibition.
Super flight, As you can see it's pretty obvious which bottle this is, it has wings, it's super flight. From my previous post you can already see that this one if going to be hung from the roof up in the air. Obviously the reason for this is to blow out of proportion what the liquid does. It's so powerful it's making the actual bottle float.
Super strength, the dude is so strong he's lifting something about 3x his size. The idea was initially to have him lifting the plinth he was supposed to be on, this was way to hard to actually set up though so I can't followed through with that. Still, I'm happy with how it looks.
and this is invisibility, I don't think I need to say anything about that!
Floating bottle test.
This is a post that shows me testing my fishing wire to see whether or not it would hold up the bottle it seemed to, it also seemed to do it rather effortlessly. I have now put it up and Im hoping it holds over the weekend otherwise Im going into college to some very pissed off people, one of those being me.

Reinforced Origami container test.
This was a follow up test to the first origami water balloon, same concept applied, all the same folds, everything is the same bar the sellotape I used to hold the seams shut. From my previous throw I pretty much realized the flat surfaces were strong enough and could tale the force, the folds and the corners were what let it down, the bits that broke. Took that in mind, put sellotape over all those bits and made the beast below.
Just another angle on the reinforced water bomb so you can better see the sellotape.
This was it filled up completely. Absolutely full because from feeling it I actually had quite a lot of confidence in how much it could hold.
This is the video of the initial throw, where it actually looks like it was unsuccessful, there is water coming out and I was actually really quite surprised by the result.
This here is the second video showing that actually the water bomb hadn't broke at all. The sellotape had come off the hole on the top which was keeping it all in, and the water was just leaking out the hole which you filled it up through. This may seem like a failed test but actually this showed me that the paper withstood the impact of being thrown to the floor and managed to retain it's contents.
One final shot of the water bomb to show that actually it is intact, this also shows the opening where the water come out. But yeah, overall this was a very useful and actually pretty fun test!
I will need to experiment with some more materials though, see what else could potentially hold the egg.
The big Origami container test.
This was actually a test for Waterbombs. I remembered these from ages ago when I was in school, used to make them in Science and definitely as part of the lesson.. But my main interest was the fact they held water well and were made from paper, so I got out the cartridge paper and went for it made an A1 version, filled it with water and gave it a test.
This is just the design before you bow air into the hole to inflate the "Balloon".
Me Ben and Liam filling it up to see how it went, unfortunately pretty sure we over filled it because it actually started to leak in one corner. Bad sign for paper but we did load it pretty full so I went ahead with testing it.
Origami Container 1
This is the first type of origami used to see just how much water a simple piece of A1 cartridge paper could hold, I followed a video (which I believe is here on my blog?) to make it and then tested it out by filling it up with water, just by doubling up the paper through folding it, and turning it into the shape it is. It managed to hold a lot of water.. Like pretty much almost full? Surprised me but made me move on to slightly more carton-ish shapes.
These are just showing the "Cup" in all of it's A1 glory, it was actually pretty big and sturdy which was surprised to say it came from a piece of paper.
Few pictures of Liam holding it once we filled it up with water, no leaks, no nothing. It held up to the test and let me know that paper could hold water in when correctly used.
This has pretty much enabled me to want to go on to trying new things with paper to see just how it works, it's definitely more eco friendly, it's actually quite aesthetically pleasing in some ways. So I do want to push further with it!

Mock FMP Sketches.
Just a couple of photos from my sketch book for my mock FMP project where I have been deciding what to products could give a slight dumb down. Things like just putting an invisibility cloak on just a plain coat rack and seeing who buys it, this was to show how dull and boring sales methods can make the most amazing products just plain and boring.
This was a page looking at the ring, trying to think if I could change it, it was actually quite difficult and I didn't actually end up going with it.
Yeah this was where I decided against it. The ring is just plain boring packaging and there is really no way to sell THE RING in a way that is any different to how anyone else sells a ring.
Trying to work which items I could use, what films I could take things from. This sheet again was just a fast idea generation which is pretty much all my sketchbooks ever are.
Golden Compass?
Light sabres?
THE FORCE. This was what I settled on. How could you not like the idea of bottling up the force and making it into something mundane and boring that could be sold next to a whole host of things without looking remotely interesting.

A rakes progress - Ending Recape
Recap of how I got to where I got to making Plaster Armour, bit of reflecting on where I could of gone better.

Not so life drawing
Tryed drawing in a slightly different way, I was using Charcoal and thinking about everything I did a lot less. It started with just straight lines on the Rib cage which I'm really happy with, ending with just fast strokes across the page not necessarily straight. But overall I really like what it looks like. So yeah. I'm happy with this. Could improve if I talked about the Hobbit a little less though.
Arm Cast + Fabric
Experimenting with putting Fabric into my casts, need to work out how to fasten it in but really like the idea of random, yet slightly crazy (or insane) materiels. Combine this with the idea of painting it and I really like where my plan for the A Rakes Progress project is going!

Plaster cast and Armour
http://clivehicksjenkins.wordpress.com/2010/04/05/
Link to a wordpress blog, which has got a section where someone had made a plaster cast armour piece before using it to create a full set of armour. Pretty similar all thought I want to build on the plaster, not make a metal suit on top of the plaster!

Really want to try some kind of 3D for the Rakes Progress project. I'm enjoying the idea of working on some kind of plaster based armour. Some kind of burden, it links to the past in that our armour now is no longer heavy but doesn't directly link to A Rakes Progress. Need to give it some thought but I'm happy with where it's going.
