Some more drawings I've been doing today. Really enjoying drawing now, I just want to manage to get some strong observational drawings done before I go to interviews for university. I am starting to improve but I will say that the thing I need to take away from this is to sit down with a pencil, concentrate and just draw. Instead of using every single thing I can other then a pencil and just scribbling the general shape of whatever it is that I'm drawing.

Nud-o-tron 9002
Nudotron 9002.
Got rid of the idea of a Cardboard box and started trying to change the way we were doing things. This was a much better way to cover a large area of the canvas. Slightly difficult to reload and what not, but everyone was more involved in this, it wasn't just nud walking around in a box with us telling him what to do. Again the results came out really well. Need to find my photo of that too!
Body Casts.
Body Casts.
Pretty sure we might of run out of supplies trying to cast Wez but it was actually really good. The casts came out well and as with all the other 3D I have done I really enjoyed it. Pretty much Wez didn't enjoy being sat still for so long but oh well!
Face casts.
Face casts.
Didn't have one done myself but this was our job on Liam (I had a cast done on my hand). Good stuff and it came out well, I do need to grab some more photos of where they are at now to add to this. Currently covered in clay and all sorts of fancy things!
Severed Fingers.
Taught by Jen and Jon, another 3D kind of thing. Really fun again because before I started this course I really didn't do anything that wasn't flat. It took a while but with a combination of red, blue and yellow acrylic paints we made some pretty decent looking bruising/blood, add on top of that the tissue used as a bandage and I guess it looks like I don't have a finger anymore!
Wigmaking.
Just started this Wig in Textiles, not too finished yet but the Skullcap took a while for me! Tryed making it on a dummy first realised it didn't work and had to get Liam to wrap my head in Plastic and Duct tape. Cut myself some paper after that and went to town creating a rather large mohawk. Really enjoying the whole 3D side to it, creating something with a physical presence unlike most of the work I previously did. Can't wait to get back to work on this.
Drawing with the Nudotron.
This was actually quite strange, as much as I enjoy sitting down and drawing for a while now it was great just trying to open up a bit. Try new things and see what came of them. It actually went strangely successful. Nud could not see where he was, what he was doing or anything but through some decent instructons and some masterful charcoal-on-stick use by Nud we actually managed to get a pretty good outline of Tyler down on our rather large Canvas.

Finian McManus
Some work by Finian Macmanus. He tends to not incorporate type into his work but I do really enjoy the way it's done when he does. It's a lot smaller then most other type, occupies a lot less space but generally has a lot more meaning because everything else there is there to represent it. I like the idea of doing something along these lines, working Type into A Rakes progress in a way that the type helps to represent/depict each one while they help to bring meaning to the text.

Just realised I have no photos up of A Rakes Progress. Words/phrases to take from them?
A link to the Soane museum's page on A Rakes Progress.

1. The Heir.
Shows him just after he has acquired his wealth. Innocent?
2. The Levee.
Really shows how he is blowing his money. Ignorance? Waste?
3. The Orgy.
Shows him having fun? But completely oblivious to everythimng around him. Blind? Oblivious?
4. The Arrest.
Shows him seeing the consequence of his actions. Oil poured on his head, not noticing his cane being stolen and being saved by a woman he constantly betrays.
5. The Marriage.
Shows Tom marrying essentially a hag, just to get more money. In the back the girl who loves him and wants him, who also saved him can't even get in to watch. Greed?
6. The Gaming house.
Shows him after he has blown all of his money. He used an old hag for money and then wasted it all by gambling, pretty much Karma. Repentance? Getting what he deserved?
7. The Prison.
Shows him right after he has landed himself and those around him in prison. I would say something like.. Reflection? But I don't think he is.
8. The Madhouse.
The final piece. He is in bedlam and he has pretty much run his course now. Surrounded by crazy, insane people and completelty out of any resource he had. I guess it's Insanity?

Good History of Typefaces/Typography PDF file.

Cannot properly access this at college to take some paragraphs from it that I really liked. But will do this at home.

Just something I really liked from London. From the Science Museum.
Not even too sure why. I just really liked looking at it, not so much going through it as I'm afraid of heights but still. Overall it was surprising because it was probably one of the favourite things I saw in London and it wasn't even in an Art Gallery.

Islam Zayed's - More Typography.
Same lines, take a meaning from each bit of A Rakes Progress.. Like Insanity? and go with something a long these lines..
Theo Aartsma - 3D Typography
Looking at Theo Aartsma's Typography makes me want to try something a long the lines of it.. I like it because of how intricate it is. There is so much detail in it. If I was going to do something along these lines I would need to give more meaning to the detail, not just put it there to look cool!

Massive Inspiration.
Intrinsic Nature
Pretty much what started me with digital art, I love pretty much everything they do. This is where I'm trying to pull inspiration from for the project.

Restarting.
Random accounts being linked together, things I don't want to be. Off we go clean account, time to keep up with it and smash out some good stuff.
