Recap of how I got to where I got to making Plaster Armour, bit of reflecting on where I could of gone better.

Typography work
Doing some Typography work just to practice, 3D mainly. Was thinking of something like this for the A Rakes Progress work but pretty sure the plaster casted armour is where it's at.

Not so life drawing
Tryed drawing in a slightly different way, I was using Charcoal and thinking about everything I did a lot less. It started with just straight lines on the Rib cage which I'm really happy with, ending with just fast strokes across the page not necessarily straight. But overall I really like what it looks like. So yeah. I'm happy with this. Could improve if I talked about the Hobbit a little less though.
Arm Cast + Fabric
Experimenting with putting Fabric into my casts, need to work out how to fasten it in but really like the idea of random, yet slightly crazy (or insane) materiels. Combine this with the idea of painting it and I really like where my plan for the A Rakes Progress project is going!

Plaster cast and Armour
http://clivehicksjenkins.wordpress.com/2010/04/05/
Link to a wordpress blog, which has got a section where someone had made a plaster cast armour piece before using it to create a full set of armour. Pretty similar all thought I want to build on the plaster, not make a metal suit on top of the plaster!

Really want to try some kind of 3D for the Rakes Progress project. I'm enjoying the idea of working on some kind of plaster based armour. Some kind of burden, it links to the past in that our armour now is no longer heavy but doesn't directly link to A Rakes Progress. Need to give it some thought but I'm happy with where it's going.
"Life" Drawing - Prettry proud of this, I was mark making with pencil and drawing/shading with charcoal. It took me a while but I really started to get into it and enjoy it. I'm quite proud of the end result, do realise that the eyes are messed up but that is something I will have to look out for next time!
A painting by Me, Nud, Ben and Liam. It's to do with A Rakes Progress and the insanity behind it all, It's him laying down from the last painting where we all drew one thing from a painting, moved to the next canvas and drew one thing from the next painting and then repeated it. The end looked really chaotic and quite cool. We did add more to it though!
On a side not, this is probably one of the more happy paintings I've had. I'm normally unhappy with them!

More Drawing.
Some more drawings I've been doing today. Really enjoying drawing now, I just want to manage to get some strong observational drawings done before I go to interviews for university. I am starting to improve but I will say that the thing I need to take away from this is to sit down with a pencil, concentrate and just draw. Instead of using every single thing I can other then a pencil and just scribbling the general shape of whatever it is that I'm drawing.

Nud-o-tron 9002
Nudotron 9002.
Got rid of the idea of a Cardboard box and started trying to change the way we were doing things. This was a much better way to cover a large area of the canvas. Slightly difficult to reload and what not, but everyone was more involved in this, it wasn't just nud walking around in a box with us telling him what to do. Again the results came out really well. Need to find my photo of that too!
Body Casts.
Body Casts.
Pretty sure we might of run out of supplies trying to cast Wez but it was actually really good. The casts came out well and as with all the other 3D I have done I really enjoyed it. Pretty much Wez didn't enjoy being sat still for so long but oh well!
Face casts.
Face casts.
Didn't have one done myself but this was our job on Liam (I had a cast done on my hand). Good stuff and it came out well, I do need to grab some more photos of where they are at now to add to this. Currently covered in clay and all sorts of fancy things!
Severed Fingers.
Taught by Jen and Jon, another 3D kind of thing. Really fun again because before I started this course I really didn't do anything that wasn't flat. It took a while but with a combination of red, blue and yellow acrylic paints we made some pretty decent looking bruising/blood, add on top of that the tissue used as a bandage and I guess it looks like I don't have a finger anymore!
Wigmaking.
Just started this Wig in Textiles, not too finished yet but the Skullcap took a while for me! Tryed making it on a dummy first realised it didn't work and had to get Liam to wrap my head in Plastic and Duct tape. Cut myself some paper after that and went to town creating a rather large mohawk. Really enjoying the whole 3D side to it, creating something with a physical presence unlike most of the work I previously did. Can't wait to get back to work on this.
